It’s frustrating when you only need 20 or 50 wristbands, only to find suppliers that demand thousands. So yes, it’s totally reasonable to ask: do custom silicone wristbands have a minimum order quantity?
The short answer is: most manufacturers do set a minimum order, but it varies a lot. It all comes down to how silicone wristbands are made.
Custom silicone bands need a custom mould for your logo, text or design. Making the mould takes time and cost. Whether you make 50 bands or 5000 bands, you still need that same mould. That’s the main reason suppliers have an MOQ in place. It helps cover the setup work.
Standard minimum order
Our regular minimum for fully custom silicone wristbands is usually 100 pieces per design. This is the standard for debossed, embossed and printed styles. This works well for most school groups, charity runs, church events and small clubs.
If you can hit this quantity, you get the normal unit price and standard production schedule.
What if you need fewer than 100?
This is where it gets tricky. We can sometimes accept smaller orders below the standard MOQ, but there will be extra setup charges. Since the mould cost stays the same, the price per wristband jumps up quite a bit. For tiny runs like 20 or 30 pieces, the cost per band can be surprisingly high, and it’s not always worth it for buyers.
A good workaround: if you only need a handful, ask if we have blank in-stock wristbands you can buy. These are ready-made bands without custom moulds, so there is no minimum. You can add simple stickers or hand-write on them for casual events, though they won’t have your permanent molded or printed logo.
One design vs multiple designs
Keep this important point in mind: the MOQ applies to each separate design. If you want three different slogans, each design needs to meet the minimum separately. For example, 100 of design A, 100 of design B and 100 of design C. You cannot combine them to hit the MOQ together.
